Experience the raw beauty of the Northern Cape at Verneukpan Rest Camp, a completely off-grid wilderness destination known for spectacular sunsets, dramatic sunrises, vast open landscapes, endless blue skies, and breathtaking desert scenery. At night, the unpolluted skies come alive with brilliant stars, while the full moon rising over the horizon creates an unforgettable experience for nature lovers and adventurous campers.
Verneukpan offers a true back-to-basics camping experience. There is no electricity, phone reception, running water, or ablution facilities, allowing guests to disconnect completely and experience the peace and solitude of the Karoo landscape. There are no designated campsites, so guests can choose their own secluded spot and enjoy the freedom of camping wherever they wish.
Located approximately 79 km from Kenhardt, Verneukpan is a remote destination where preparation is essential. Guests must arrive fully self-sufficient with enough drinking water, fuel, lighting, food, and camping equipment for the duration of their stay. It is recommended that vehicles are refuelled in Kenhardt before travelling to the camp.

Verneukpan, the most exclusive place to be. Vast Pan 18km wide by 42km long. In the middle of nowhere. We, 5 Gyrocopters, had the privilege to be hosted by Hennie Snyman and his family, with a perfect Camp in the middle of the Pan. Complete with Boma, beds, cool amenities, wonderful Sheep meat braai. The wonderful hospitality by Hennie and his family will nit be easily matched…🎉
Verneukpan Rest Camp is an absolute gem in the heart of the Karoo. The setting is breathtaking, with vast open landscapes, incredible scenery, and the peace and tranquillity that make the Karoo so special. We visited on our adventure bikes, and it couldn't have been a better destination. The bike trails are fantastic, offering a mix of scenic routes, open terrain, and plenty of opportunities to explore this unique part of South Africa. Every ride was an adventure, with spectacular views around every corner. What really sets this place apart, though, are the people. The hosts are incredibly friendly, welcoming, and genuinely passionate about ensuring guests have a great experience. Their hospitality made our stay even more memorable. If you're looking for an authentic Karoo adventure, whether on two wheels or simply to escape the hustle and bustle, Verneukpan Rest Camp is a must-visit. Great accommodation, amazing riding, stunning surroundings, and wonderful people. We'll definitely be back
We had an amazing camping trip! The campsite was clean, peaceful, and well maintained. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the facilities were neat and easy to use. The surroundings were beautiful, and we enjoyed relaxing in nature. We would definitely come back and highly recommend this campsite to anyone looking for a great outdoor experience.

This was my second bike trip to verneukpan and was one to remember. Although the pan was flooded, we had our own private wild came situated right by it with a great view. We also had world class friendly service from Leanda and AD, with all the amenities we could ever need. I will 100% be staying here again and I cannot wait to check our their official campsite on our next adventure!
