Had the most lovely stay at the Dassiekrans cabin 2! It was so serene with the flow of the river while having a BBQ under the brights stars. Completely immersed in nature. Watching the dassies cuddle up against each other in the early morning was so amazing!! Can’t wait to go back.
Secluded in the mountains, on a beautiful landscape, all you need for a great retreat! The Dassi cottage is well equipped, private and with a great view and braai areas to choose from. There are plenty of hikes on the property, very well marked and in various lengths and difficulties. Very friendly and attentive hosts.
Don’t be that person who only books two nights at Kleinrivier... You’ll regret it wishing you could've stayed longer! We stayed in the Black Eagle Tented Camp, which is beautifully and uniquely decorated, offering both comfort and a secluded getaway among Forest Elder and Tierhout trees. There’s a ±300 m walk on an off-road path from the parking area to the unit, so pack smart (but it’s absolutely worth it!) Firewood and fire starters are provided which makes lighting a braai and heating the donkey for hot showers easy and part of the experience. The hiking and cycling trails were a highlight for us as they were well-marked and great information were provided both online and in the unit. That said, the terrain is technical and mountainous and should not to be underestimated. Hikes like the Tierhout Trail are especially demanding, with perilous climbs and descents but offer beautiful scenery and a true sense of adventure. We stayed in the new Gwarrie Tree Lodge that opened in December 2025. This unit is far from any other unit. It has two bedrooms and one bathroom. There is a lovely pool and three braai places for use depending on where the wind comes from. It is a nice classy place
We stayed at the Gwarry Tree Lodge and really enjoyed the walking and cycling trails. The lodge with 180 degree views is quite new, well equipped and comfortable.
