Such a great experience. We stayed for 2 nights as a family of 4 in one of the kennels. It was definitely worth the money. We were greeted by such a friendly owner with the cutest dogs. We always felt like we were taken care of and looked after. The houses were clean and comfy. The surrounding area is so beautiful. The town is a bit run down, but I think that is what makes it so beautiful, it is quiet and you can have the beach all to yourself. The ship on the beach makes for some great pictures and you can walk around the town. You can drive to the reserve or visit the ship wreck. The restaurant was so lovely and all the people are friendly. We loved our stay and can't wait to go back.

What a nice place to stay. We were welcomed by the owner who took great to make sure that we were comfortable. There is great number of activities to be done at the property itself. Even a pool if you do not like swimming in the sea (where the water is way to cold in any case). I would highly recommend "Die Honnehokke Resort" to anybody that needs a break. Also very well situated if you you want to explore the surrounding places.

Enjoyed our stay, the units was comfortable with a braai area and small kitchen. Walking distance from the beach, around a 300m walk. To get to Hondeklipbaai, you travel along a 50km gravel road.

We stayed in September 2024. Our greeting on arrival was efficient and friendly and we enjoyed a few of Attie's jokes. The situation in the town was nice so you could walk to the beach, but the unit then was extremely outdated and needed a revamp, a coat of fresh beachy colour paint and a really deep clean. Nothing was shining and clean, but rather all appeared grubby and neglected (sorry) and we chose to have cheese and biscuits for dinner using our own picnic plates. (There was also a dark stain in the toilet and we actually googled the microwave was from 1980s.) It appears that they were redoing the contract with their cleaning staff, who may have been playing up at the time as other people didn't seem to have the same experience. The space itself was fine, bathroom was large, apart from there was no space on one side of the double bed to get into it, and obviously also no bedside table or lamp. WiFi was a nice addition. We slept cosy and warm despite the noisy fridge and nice warm heater fan blowing. In the morning, the shower wouldn't get warm, so only one of us attempted that. When we told Attie, he said we should have found our way to the back of the property to find the gas geyser, as the flame had probably gone out. We still laugh about this today. And for those planning a visit, remember you are going to a rustic beach town on a horrible bumpy dirt road, and unless you going fishing or sitting on the beach, there is nothing to do. Bring all your own supplies. We did stop in at both restaurants to get a fresh fish dinner, but one smelt of old oil and the other had a group of locals hanging around in a cloud of cigarette smoke, which is not our cup of tea. Yes we are fussy, but rightly so! So check if you are staying in a more recently revamped room, and enjoy your kennel stay!

Accommodation was run down, very basic kitchen setup with minimal self catering items, bathroom was extremely small, run down and did not feel clean. There seems to be an ongoing problem with electricity (Not loadshedding) which also affects the water. We were only told about not having water after it was off late that afternoon (although looking back the owner seemed to know it was going to happen when we arrived) which resulted in not being able to shower that evening after a long day of travels. This seems to be a regular, known issue as the owner keeps a bottle of water next to the toilet to be able to flush however, he failed to check that ours had been filled in time and so we did not have any spare water in our room. The accommodation is based in a very run down local informal community which is approximately 80km off the main road which 55.5km of that is dirt road. Not a convenient place to stay if you are wanting to explore and go to the national park. There is nothing to do in the town - no shops, no restaurants, no garage and nothing to do or see and the accommodation was not nice enough to want to stay there all day. We camp a lot and so we are use to staying in places & camp sites that are basic. However, this has been the worst accommodation and experience that we have ever had. Unfortunately, the owner did not seem interested or concerned about our stay or why we decided to leave the very next morning even though we had booked to stay there for 3 nights. It is not worth the trip and is not good value for money. There are far better places to stay in the surrounding area's from our experience.
