We were a group of friends staying 4 nights, and enjoyed having the house to ourselves. DeKotzenhof is a very comfortable, restored guesthouse with large rooms, tastefully decorated while still offering everything we needed for a relaxing stay. Karen was very friendly and helpful, giving us lots of information about the village. A lovely central place to stay in Wakkerstroom which I would happily recommend.
We needed a last minute stop over on our travels and found DeKotzenhof Guest House in the quaint town of Wakkerstroom. Karen welcomed us at short notice and we had a really comfortable night which included short walk to the hotel for a delicious dinner. Would certainly recommend this accommodation.
Very welcoming and accomodating hosts in Mark and Karen. The accomodation was very nice and comfortable and the breakfast great. Worth a stop over in Wakkerstroom.
We stayed in the self-catering cottage for 4-nights in Nov 2025, while doing some hiking & birding in the surrounding countryside. Mark & Karen are perfect hosts and made us feel very welcome, cooking superb evening meals and breakfasts. We were very excited to see a pair of red-throated wrynecks while sitting on our veranda, and if the weather had been better I’m sure we’d have seen a lot more.
We had a fantastic stay at Dekotzenhof in Wakkerstroom. Karen and Mark are wonderful hosts, and Mark’s cooking is absolutely divine — a must-try! Relax and Go Birding!
