Would not recommend this highly overpriced accommodation to anyone. Far better places in our country for a third of the price. Food below average and no choices. Owner corresponds but totally disinterested in the actual running and maintenance. So sad 😢 very upset that we had dogs in our diningroom while we were eating. Very illegal in SA even if a pet friendly place.
The Antbear Evo Lodge is under new management staff ,WHICH WERE WONDERFULL. The negative remarks are of the past ,so I would recommend it highly as a place of quite and fantastic food.
Unfortunately Antbear Eco Lodge is completely run down. It is definitely not worth going there. Everything rotten. Nothing to do with the pictures in the internet. We stayed in the "luxury cave". The bathroom is not even connected to the main room. It was dirty, smelling. It was cold and we had to use the fire place. But nobody cleaned the chimney so that all the smoke went into the room. We almost died. The food is just disgusting and there was not even one bottle of wine left at the bar. There is only one recommendation. Never ever go there!!! There are so many other places worth going. And the worst thing is that Andrew, the owner, never ever replied to our messages. So did his manager Andile. And they never send us a refund. Of course we left directly after this first terrible night. Just stay away.
I come from Germany. The accommodation, the view, the food and the experiences were great, and we also had many wonderful evenings. Beautiful memories! I'm seriously considering coming back!
Following on from our disastrous experience at Ocean Gorge in Ballito, we got in contact with Andrew at Antbear Lodge... We explained our experience and he could accommodate us immediately even at a discounted rate... When we dove to Antbear Lodge, we were welcomed by such friendly staff, competent and excellence. The place is serene, nestled in the mountains of the Drakensburg. The rate included breakfast and dinner daily, which included wholesome meals, the effort made by the staff, although more expensive, the hospitality industry is about service and these people know exactly what they're doing... And my doggies are loving it, as am I. I'll definitely come back here.. Thank you Antbear..
