African Safari Lodge

We had an amazing 2 night stay at African Safari Lodge for our 25th wedding anniversary. On arrival past the main gate we were met by all the giraffe, right next to the road. Dean, Chef Gift and staff went out of their way to make our stay memorable. Nothing was too much trouble and they were so attentive. All the meals were great, especially the Steak for dinner which was cooked perfectly! Dean took us on the afternoon boat cruise, we saw buffalo and water buck on the rivers edge. Thereafter, dropped off for our game drive. Mike was very knowledgeable and told us so many interesting facts that we had never heard before. We will definitely be back. We stayed in the Deluxe Suite - with the most amazing view. Room was luxurious and so spacious.

We were extremely blessed to have won a competition that entailed a two-night stay at African Safari Lodge at the end of April. Firstly, I want to highlight the passion, excitement, and professionalism of the Lodge Manager, Dean. Dean, you do make the experience so much more exciting and we really enjoyed having you host us. When we arrived, we were met by Gift, the chef. His friendliness and welcoming was awesome, but does not compare to his skills in the kitchen. The food is excellent and the portions are very generous. Thank you for feeding us, Gift. We enjoyed a sunset cruise with a game drive, and that was the highlight of our first day. My son and I also had a great time fishing against the beautiful scenery and got that much needed father-son time in. My wife and I got to spend our time together, enjoying the scenery, nature and good company. If you want to get away from the rush of your normal day and you want to connect with nature, while enjoying good food, good company and be served by an amazing team of people, I can confidently recommend African Safari Lodge.

Great place to spend time away and good fishing. We unfortunately though would not recommend it to friends due to a few things. Construction really detracted from the experience, during my partners massage there was a huge amount of noise, far from relaxing. We ordered some of the more expensive pizza's on an evening and they were not up to standard. As well as the rest of our pizza's that we asked for take away, disappearing once it went back to the kitchen. Upon checkout we were also overcharged for canoe hire that we didn't use. Luckily we checked and this was taken off. For the price we paid I did expect more.

Our stay at the African Lodge was nothing short of exceptional! From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed by the warm and friendly staff, who went above and beyond to make us feel at home. Their hospitality truly set this lodge apart from many others we’ve visited in the area. One of the biggest highlights was the range of activities for kids—a rare find at lodges of this caliber. Our children had an unforgettable time experiencing guided fishing trips and safe, well-organized hunting excursions, which were both educational and exhilarating. It’s not every day that kids get to immerse themselves in nature like this! Beyond the activities, the lodge itself was beautifully maintained, with comfortable accommodations and a setting that perfectly balances adventure with relaxation. It’s clear that African Lodge deserves another star, and frankly, that star should come from some of the other establishments in the area that didn’t come close to offering the same level of service, engagement, and warmth. If you’re looking for a lodge that welcomes families, offers unique experiences, and treats you like a valued guest rather than just another booking, this is the place to be. We will definitely be back!

I had the pleasure of staying at this beautiful lodge this weekend, and I can confidently say it's a hidden gem. The location alone is breathtaking, and the team of friendly, knowledgeable staff truly make the experience unforgettable. With working safari boats and vehicles, you can get up close to nature and enjoy the abundant wildlife around you. If you're looking for a peaceful, nature-filled getaway with amazing service, this is the place to be!
